MIGRATION

New pair of sculptures for the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts.

Inspired by delicate seed wings drifting from the tree canopy to the ground, two large-scale sculptures address how trees have migrated across Massachusetts over long periods. At the base of each sculpture are hollow voids shaped like seeds that invite people to stand and sit together within their architecture. The form of each sculpture derives from a specific grove of trees currently standing at the deCordova and a second grove of trees at a to-be-determined Trustees conservation forest. The sculptures are designed to be installed at the deCordova and temporarily at a Trustees woodlands location to foster awareness of how different Trustee landscapes are interconnected and changing over time.

The sculptures will be installed at the deCordova in the summer of 2027.
