MOUNTAIN TIME
Mountain Time is a long-term project connecting five upcoming large-scale sculptures. The central theme of the series is an exploration of how the landscape is changing because of our warming climate and questions what existing plant life, especially trees, will do to adapt and in many cases migrate northward. The five new sculptures will each connect two locations. Each location is within the Mountain Time Zone in North America, stretching from the Sierra Madre Occidental in Mexico all the way north to the arctic coast of the Beauford Sea in Canada’s Yukon Territory (see map of outlined locations).
Each sculpture will be made of a different material: wood-fired ceramic (early test parts shown in images here), cast aluminum, wood, pigmented silicone, and cast glass. Some of the sculptures will be exhibited outdoors and some indoors. Some will enter museum collections and others will be permanently sited in public spaces.
Details about where and when the sculptures will be on view (beginning in the summer and fall of 2027) will be posted here.
